The Capitol Theatre, the future home of the Experience Te Puke Kiwifruit Capital of the World heritage hub, was absolutely buzzing today! The ‘Life of a Showgirl’ event was held this afternoon to celebrate the release of Taylor Swift’s triumphant new album, and it was pure magic.
The event demonstrated exactly what our revitalised community hub is all about: bringing the best of global culture right into the heart of Te Puke. From the Bay of Plenty to the Eras Tour stadium, we proved that the energy of the “Showgirl Era” is alive and well right here!
Highlights from a Shimmering Afternoon:
- A Triumphant Album: We celebrated Taylor’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, an energetic, joy-filled victory lap that’s already being hailed as a triumph. Hearing the Max Martin-produced pop perfection—including bangers like “Wood” and the heartfelt ballad “Ruin The Friendship”—on the cinema’s surround sound system was an experience in itself!
- Star Quality Management: A huge thanks to Sabrina Harms for her exceptional job managing the event. Her seamless organisation ensured the dazzling afternoon ran perfectly.
- The Showgirl Era Arrives: The crowd was treated to a spectacular Real Showgirl performance by Fifi Oh! of The Wild Untamed, bringing the vibrant visual theme of the album to life right on our historic stage.
- Community Connection: The theatre was filled with local Swifties swapping friendship bracelets, testing their knowledge with trivia, and enjoying non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.
This event was a perfect preview of the vibrant life being breathed back into the Capitol Theatre as we establish the Experience Te Puke Kiwifruit Capital of the World. It’s more than just history; it’s a place for modern cultural events and unforgettable community moments.
We can’t wait to share more media and photos next week on Sunlive and Te Puke News!
