Our new home is in the historic Capitol Theatre, a fitting location that places our heritage right in the heart of town. We are more than a museum. Through a series of vibrant exhibitions, we will trace the kiwifruit’s journey from the ‘Chinese gooseberry’ to the global powerhouse it is today.

While the kiwifruit is the star of our story, our purpose is to celebrate the entire Te Puke district. This includes the nine distinct surrounding communities of Manoeka, Te Matai, Rangiuru, Waitangi, Paengaroa, Maketū, Pongakawa, Pukehina, and Ōtamarākau.

We are building a platform to honor the unique contributions and heroes of each community. Our innovative approach will ensure that the centre is a living network, with resources and stories from each area circulating to create a living, breathing connection across the district.
